Worked to secure equal rights and opportunities especially for African American women. Helped to found the National Association of Colored Women (NACW) in 1896. One of the founders of the NAACP. Her efforts recognized when she was the only African-American selected to eulogize Susan B. Anthony at the 1907 Nat. American Women�s Suffrage Assoc.convention.
